OKBet Volley: What is Beach Volleyball?

Beach volleyball is a team sport that is played on a sand court that is divided by a net. There can be anywhere from two to ten players on each of the two teams competing.

The objective of the game, which is very similar to that of indoor volleyball, is to hit the ball over the net and get it to land on the other side of the court, which is controlled by the opponent. Each team collaborates in order to prevent the other team from gaining possession of the ball in their half of the court when they are attempting to ground it.

There is a limit of three touches per team that can be used to send the ball back over the net. Individual players are not permitted to touch the ball twice in a row, with the exception of after they have received a touch off of a blocked shot attempt. Following the completion of a block touch, there are only two more touches available before the ball has to be hit over.

The ball is placed into play with a “serve,” which consists of the server hitting the ball from behind the rear court boundary over the net to the other players. The rally will continue until the ball is either grounded on the playing court, goes “out,” or a fault is made in the effort to return the ball. The winning team in each rally is awarded a point and the responsibility of starting the next rally.

The players continue to serve in the same order for the entirety of the match, switching servers after each point that is scored by the team that is on the receiving end of a rally.

It is believed that beach volleyball was first played around 1915 on Waikiki Beach, which is located in Hawaii. On the other hand, the present version of the game was first played in Santa Monica, which is located in California.

Since the Summer Olympics in 1996, it has been one of the sports that is competed for at the Olympics. The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) is the worldwide regulatory body for the sport of volleyball. This body is also responsible for organizing the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships as well as the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
