OKBet Volley: La Salle joins Shakey's Super League on Sept 24

De La Salle University will play in the Shakey’s Super League 2022 Collegiate Pre-Season Championship.

Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures Inc. (SPAVI) president and CEO Vicente Gregorio made the announcement after the Lady Spikers’ management committed to participate the event on September 24 at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

MANILA – De La Salle University will play in the Shakey’s Super League 2022 Collegiate Pre-Season Championship.

Philip Ella Juico, chairman and CEO of SSL exclusive organizer Athletic Events and Sports Management, Inc., told Gregorio (ACES). Lady Spikers team manager Benito Araneta informed Juico.

With DLSU, the SSL will feature all 18 teams from the UAAP and NCAA, two of the country’s most famous college competitions.

The Shakey’s Super League is thrilled. For the first time in Philippine volleyball history, all 10 NCAA teams and all eight UAAP squads are under one roof, as Shakey’s continues to support amateur, student-based sports.

“This is our group’s little contribution to volleyball in the country,” he said.

DLSU, the UAAP Season 84 runner-up, will submit its roster next week.

Far Eastern University, NCAA champion College of St. Benilde, and Letran were in Pool D alongside the Lady Spikers.

University of the Philippines, University of the East, Mapua, San Beda University and University of Perpetual Help are in Pool A. Adamson University, University of Santo Tomas, San Sebastian College, Emilio Aguinaldo College and Lyceum of the Philippines University are in Pool B.

National University Ateneo de Manila, Jose Rizal University, and Arellano University are in Pool C.

Top two teams from each pool advance to the next round, where they will be split into two pools for another round robin to decide their quarterfinal ranking.

The semifinal and final are knockout games.
